It was also mentioned on a forum (I can't find it again, but I think the link to the other forum was posted on TWOP) a while ago, by someone claiming to know the Duggars that Josh had molested a younger girl (sister perhaps?): around the time JB had lost the election...and someone put the two together. But yes, to a point it is conjecture. To say it is gleeful, is pushing it a bit: well at least from my end...It upsets me deeply to think that this family is upheld as the ultimate portrayal of the quiverfull ideal when the reality for most (and maybe them too: particularly regarding the above 'conjecture') in the movement is much different: and that due in part to their belief system (people taking it to the extreme etc) there some very damaged people out there. And yes these dissenters are more common than people like the Duggars make out. My take on the "sin in the camp" comment/back story? It has the ring of truth to it. It is possible. Similar things have happened in this movement for years, with similar reactions (covering up, blaming victim, no real punishment for offender). It happened to my family, and many others that I knew growing up in a group similar to the Duggars. Jo Jo

Honestly his sin could have been looking at porn or other things that 99% of teenage boys do and would actually make Josh more normal. And by Duggar standards porn could have been a woman in pants. I read the posts on TWOP (although no clue which thread on the Duggars or page numbers). And I think I posted a link here to the link http://freejinger.yuku.com/topic/372. But anyways as much as I dislike Josh I won't believe it until I have some proof. He seems to mostly ignore his youngest siblings and do you think he would have taken that road trip out to Anna's with the older girls if he had done anything with them? Robobotkin Posts: 751 May 19 09 6:26 AM Born To Be Plaid Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The only things we know is that Oprah did refuse to air the show she did with them and there were rumors that something went down that Oprah was uncomfortable with at the same time all these Josh 'sin in the camp' rumors occurred. I thought the big reveal was going to be that Josh was gay. It's rumored that he had several broken off betrothals with one of the Holt girls. Were they making eye babies or what I do not know. Also rumored that CPS in Arkansas was called by someone in the Oprah camp. So there's no real telling exactly what was going on. That lifestyle can lead to any number of weird tangents and like Feberin said, it could be something as normal as looking at internet porn.

Who knows maybe as their popularity grows somebody will come forward with the reason and the unaired footage.

Frumper Lover Posts: 188 May 19 09 6:49 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	So, I've done some googling and while there is much hearsay about Josh's molestation and other such sins in the camp (looking at porn, kissing a Holt girl, etc) it just can't be traced to a decent source. While I wouldn't be shocked to find out Josh molested his sisters, it just can't be confirmed and I feel kinda bad pinning such a thing on a guy. As for Oprah cancelling the show, another rumor is that it is because she offered some of the girls free rides to nursing/midwifing school and the family turned it down since the girls would have to move. The rumor says Oprah was rubbed the wrong way by a - there refusal of her generosity, and b - them keeping their daughters stuck at home and unable to fulfill their dreams.

She seems to be the type to say, "Oh, well. You're loss. I was only trying to help." I could see Oprah being upset over a parent's refusal to allow their child a higher education and impeding on their child's dream. Oprah is a big advocate for education. She credits the opportunity for an education for her meteoric rise out of poverty. I think she would be very upset if a parent were to turn their back their child's education. If someone from Oprah's camp did call CPS on the Duggars, it's believable that this would be the reason. Oprah could have felt that the parents were being neglectful. And if the story is true, then they are neglecting their children. Neglect doesn't just entail food, clothing, shelter, and love. It also includes an education. Besides, those girls wouldn't be going to nursing/midwife school until they were 18 years old. At that point, they're adults and can make their own decisions. Let's hope Oprah extends the offer to Jinger when she reaches 18 years of age. I have a feeling that Jinger just might take the opportunity and run.

Unfortunately, the Duggars and their ilk have a definition of adulthood that differs from American legal standards. According to their religion/lifestyle, a woman is never an adult in her own right; she is her father's property, and then she is her husband's property. Her decisions must find support and approval from male authority figures -- father, husband, clergyman, adult sons. Relegated to the status of perpetual child under these circumstances, a woman never becomes a fully functioning adult. I certainly HOPE that the Duggar girls will claim their independence of mind and start making their own decisions at age 18, but I have my doubts. Gah, how I would love to mentor one of them!
