Alyssa bothers me in the way that she makes it sound like her father is totally out of the courtship/ATI mentality. He even wrote a series of articles called "The Curse of the Standard Bearers" that called out alot of the problems in the Patriarchy movement. However, go google Norm Wakefield. That is her father's name. He runs Elijah Ministries and his itinerary shows he still speaks at all the usual churches, still peddling the courtship model. I feel like as long as there is money to be made, he will continue in it. Perhaps save enough for retirement and then after years of peddling this will recant it all as he sits there with a comfy retirement package. I also don't care for the self promotion of Alyssa's blog...it makes me gag. Her entire life and the lives of her children are a perpetual photo shoot.

As someone who knows Alyssa's parents and their family, I need to point out that although he speaks at many of these churches, he really is anti-ATI and group think fundie-ism.  He now preaches about your personal relationship with Christ, and about healthy family relationships- not fundie style.  Although many here would probably still disagree with what he teaches, it's far removed from the things we dislike on this board.

Then why does he still sell the tapes and books from way back when they were more ATI-like?  I don't mean any disrespect toward him and I would never want to bash a friend of yours, but they are still making money from all the old stuff, regardless of what he says now when he speaks.
